This Nagarkot Hike to Changu tour begins at early before sunrise start at your hotel in Katmandu. Then, you will be driven to the Nagarkot Village which is so good to see the sunrise overhead the Himalayas. You will be taken to the beautiful viewpoint (2175M) for the sunrise over the Langtang & many other different mountain ranges. The surrounding views & sunrise also, are so beautiful.
If after your sunrise, you would like your Himalayan Breakfast, we can go visit one of the hotels that has yummy breakfast.
Start of the Hike
Then we can start our hike towards Changunarayan. Starting with leaving Nagarkot village, we pass by a small bus station & a very happening village downtown. We descend via a dirt road with very little vehicle traffic so you will pass many different villages along the way. This provide great insight into the lifestyles of the Nepali village people.
Village Life and Culture
Discovering villages & lives of local people living on these little terraces with very basic items. In most Nepali villages, their livelihood is from livestock such as buffalo, cows, dogs, chickens, goats & more running here & there in their home & farm. The local Nagarkot people and villages make sure they survive with their farms & livestock.
You will pass through Santi Dada known as Peace Hill where you will see a beautiful Buddha statue on the hillside & then back through villages to Jalpadevi Temple after playing hide & seek on the busy road. After a few hours (Approx 2) of hiking, you will arrive at Telkot village.
Through Nature and Jungle
After about half of the hiking, we are again leaving the busy main road & start with a dirt road through nature. Walking through the jungle & villages now seeing their lifestyles again, it will take another 45 minutes more to the village of Changunarayan, where you will be visiting the old temple.
Visit Changunarayan Temple
After hiking for about 4 hours, you will reach Changunarayan Temple. It is the oldest capital & royal palace of Nepal, as people think. You are on the way to historic Temple of Changunarayan. You will also see the written inscription on the stone which is known as the first ever writing history of Nepal.

Detailed Itinerary
Nagarkot Sunrise Hike to Changunarayan
Early in the morning, our driver & guide will pick you up from your hotel about one & half hours before sunrise time. Then, we will take a drive to Nagarkort’s viewpoint through Bhaktapur & surrounding villages. Then, You would get the opportunity to witness the most amazing sunrise on the Himalayas. You can also see majestic views of different Himalayan ranges like Annapurna, Manaslu, Langtang, Ganesh, Gaurishankar & Everest range on the clear day.
After breakfast at the Nagarkot Village, we will start our hikine towards Changunarayan through the villages, jungle & terraces. You also have multiple options to take the ride or exit from the hike. After about 2 hours arrive at Telkot Village and then continue our walk through the forest & dirt road. We will finally arrive at Changunarayan Temple.
Visit the beautiful Changunarayan Temple (UNESCO site). The colorful temple dedicated to the Hindu God Bishnu temple was built here in the medieval era by King Manadeva. Our guide briefly describe you about the temple & history before you return back to our hotel.
We will take you back to Kathmandu & drop you off at your hotel. We will bid our farewell after a wonderful day hike.
