Poon Hill Trekking Introduction
The Poon Hill Trek is a popular trekking route in Nepal that takes you through picturesque landscapes, charming villages, and stunning mountain views. It is a shorter and relatively easier trek compared to other treks in the Annapurna region, making it suitable for beginners or those with limited time.
The trek starts from Nayapul, which can be reached by a scenic drive from Pokhara. From Nayapul, you trek through terraced fields, lush forests, and traditional villages, immersing yourself in the local culture and natural beauty of the region.
One of the highlights of the Ghorepani Ghandruk Trek is the ascent to Poon Hill (3,210m) after reaching Ghorepani village. Breathtaking sunrise views over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges can be seen. Additionally, you can witness the golden hues of the morning sun illuminating the snow-capped peaks, creating a magical spectacle.
After enjoying the sunrise from Poon Hill, the trek continues to Ghorepani, a beautiful village surrounded by rhododendron forests. Ghorepani is a great place to rest and rejuvenate, offering panoramic views of the Himalayas.
From Ghorepani, the trail descends through dense forests and charming villages, eventually leading to Ghandruk. Here, you can explore the village, interact with the friendly locals, and learn about their unique way of life.
You will be treated to stunning mountain vistas. It includes Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machapuchare (Fishtail), and other peaks of the Annapurna range. The trail also offers opportunities to observe the diverse flora and fauna of the region. Further, involves rhododendron forests, orchids, and various bird species.
The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural immersion, and stunning mountain views. Thus, making it a popular choice for trekkers seeking a shorter but rewarding trekking experience in Nepal.
