Siklis Trekking
Discover the untouched beauty of the Annapurna foothills with our Sikles Trek, a scenic and culturally enriching journey to one of Nepal's largest and most traditional Gurung villages. Located northeast of Pokhara, the Sikles Trek is a hidden gem that offers breathtaking Himalayan views, authentic village life, lush forests, and peaceful trails away from the crowds of the popular Annapurna trekking routes.
Ideal for beginners, families, photographers, and travelers seeking an off-the-beaten-path experience, the Sikles Trek perfectly combines nature, culture, and adventure. This moderate trek takes you through beautiful terraced farmlands, rhododendron forests, alpine meadows, and traditional mountain settlements while showcasing the rich heritage of the Gurung community.
The highlight of the trek is reaching the charming village of Sikles (1,980 m), nestled beneath the majestic peaks of the Annapurna range. Built with traditional stone houses and narrow pathways, Sikles offers a fascinating glimpse into rural Himalayan life. Here, you'll experience the warm hospitality of the Gurung people, learn about their unique customs and traditions, and enjoy authentic local cuisine prepared by welcoming hosts.
Throughout the trek, you'll be rewarded with magnificent views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna II, Annapurna IV, Lamjung Himal, Hiunchuli, and other snow-capped peaks. Sunrise and sunset over the Himalayas create unforgettable moments for photographers and nature lovers alike.
The trek passes through the protected Annapurna Conservation Area, home to diverse wildlife, dense rhododendron and oak forests, colorful wildflowers, and numerous bird species. During spring, the forests come alive with blooming rhododendrons, while autumn offers crystal-clear skies and exceptional mountain visibility.
For those looking to explore further, the Sikles Trek can be extended to Kapuche Lake, Nepal's lowest glacier lake, or linked with the Kori Danda Trek, offering even more spectacular mountain scenery and adventure.
With moderate daily walking distances and comfortable community lodges or homestays, the Sikles Trek is suitable for trekkers of all ages and fitness levels. It is an excellent choice for travelers seeking a short Himalayan trek that emphasizes culture, sustainability, and authentic local experiences.
