Mardi Trek Introduction

Mardi Trek is a relatively new and less crowded trekking in Nepal. It offers a wonderful opportunity to explore the pristine beauty of the Annapurna region and witness stunning views of the Himalayas, including the majestic Mardi Himal itself. This trek takes you through remote villages, lush forests, and alpine landscapes, providing an off-the-beaten-path experience for trekkers.

The Mardi Himal Trek usually begins from Kande, which is a short drive away from Pokhara. From Kande, the trail ascends through rhododendron forests and charming villages, gradually gaining altitude. The route passes through Deurali and Forest Camp, offering serene forested trails and occasional glimpses of the Annapurna and Machapuchare (Fishtail) peaks.

As you continue your ascent, you’ll reach Low Camp and then High Camp, where the tree line diminishes, and you’ll find yourself surrounded by open alpine meadows. From High Camp, a steep and thrilling climb takes you to the Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500m), which offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Annapurna range, including Annapurna South, Machapuchare, Hiunchuli, and Mardi Himal itself.

The trek also provides an opportunity to explore the culturally rich village of Siding, where you can interact with the warm and friendly locals and experience their unique lifestyle. The villagers are primarily Gurungs, known for their rich cultural traditions and warm hospitality.

The Mardi Himal Trek offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural encounters, and stunning mountain views. It is an ideal choice for trekkers seeking a relatively shorter and less crowded trek in the Annapurna region, while still being able to witness the grandeur of the Himalayas and experience the tranquility of the mountains.
